Seasonal retreats
Nature changes in cycles. So do we.
Each retreat explores a different threshold in the human experience through the language of the season, the body, movement, ritual, forest, sauna, silence, and honest self-observation. Some gatherings are about emergence and possibility. Others are about grief, endings, perception, desire, or the courage to stop carrying what has already completed its time.
The work of the season
We are very good at starting over.
We are less practiced at allowing something to truly end.
Sometimes we continue feeding what has already completed itself. We wait. We explain. We negotiate. We try one more time. We keep returning to an old role, an old relationship, an old hope, or an old version of ourselves because the empty space after an ending can feel more frightening than the ending itself.
This retreat creates space to stop negotiating with what we already know, allow the body to participate in the process of release, mourn what deserves to be mourned, and resist the urge to immediately replace what has ended with something new.
Inside the immersion
The work moves through the mind, the body, the circle, and the land
Sacred Dance
A body-based exploration of what has been silenced, controlled, postponed, tolerated, or left unspoken. Movement becomes a way to encounter what the thinking mind may already understand but the body has not yet expressed.
Ceremonial Wrapping
A guided women’s circle using traditional wrapping as a symbolic practice of stillness, witnessing, grief, and completion. Each woman is held by the circle while the others participate in their own work of mourning and release.
Banya Mystery
An extended traditional sauna experience using heat, steam, veniks, herbs, water, scrubs, touch, silence, and temperature contrast as part of the larger process of release and integration.
Symbolic Burial
A simple night ritual in the forest marking the end of what has been seen, mourned, and released. The purpose is not to create a new identity immediately, but to honor completion and leave space for what has not yet taken form.
Intentionally small
Only five women
This immersion is intentionally limited to four participants so there is enough time for individual attention, deep body-based work, ceremonial wrapping, extended sauna practice, and an intimate circle where grief, anger, silence, uncertainty, and truth do not have to become a public performance.
Sunny Shores Forest Sanctuary
Three nights in the Northwoods
The retreat takes place at Sunny Shores, a private forest property in Northern Wisconsin surrounded by the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The property includes two houses, a large sauna, a heated movement space, forest, fire, lake access, and the quiet needed for this kind of work.
