What this Karmic teacher is asking me: Did I mean what I decided when I was hurt? Do I still know what I knew when everything was falling apart? Was I letting go of an illusion, or did I abandon something real because I could no longer bear the pain of it?

We talk a lot about manifestation as if the universe were listening to our requests.

Today, during a lesson with my mentor and teacher, we opened a very old abscess. The kind that has been there for so long that you no longer experience it as a wound. It has become part of the architecture of your life. You make decisions around it, build relationships around it, explain yourself through it, and only much later discover how many apparently unrelated choices have been organized around the same old pain.

Recently I came across one of those irresistible statements that circulate online: physicists have discovered a quantum effect in which choices made in the present seem to alter events in the past. I immediately wanted to know more. I am fascinated by anything that disturbs our comfortable assumptions about reality, but this particular claim caught me for another reason.
